Kathmandu, March 30
Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara remarked that people-to-people relations between Nepal and India was better than the relations between the two neighbours at the political level.
“People-to-people relations contribute to strengthen relations between the two countries at all times,” Mahara said at the inauguration of Nepal-India Folk Crafts Festival initiated by South Asia Foundation and South Asia Foundation-Nepal.
Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supply MatrikaYadav said, “We are holding the Nepal Investment Summit, which is a historical event,” he said.
Minister of Forest and Environment Shakti Bahadur Basnet said such events fostered goodwill among the peoples of the two countries..
Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri also attended the programme.
According to the organiser, the festival aimed to promote bilateral relations and cultural exchange between India and Nepal. The festival will last till April 3 at Thamel.
“This exceptional five-day exhibition of exclusive artefacts developed by artisans of India as well as Nepal. In addition to exhibition, there will be live demonstrations by master craftsmen,” said Rahul Barua Chief of South Asia Foundation.
“Cross-cultural festival like this is an ideal opportunity for effective tie-up and comprehensive collaboration between Nepal and India for a larger cooperation in the field of arts and crafts, thus providing a platform to artisans to exchange ideas and promote trade collaboration between the two countries,” he said.
