Budget crisis hits learning centre hard

Dhankuta, November 30

Lack of budget has hit operation of Community Learning Centre for the past five months at Sanghurigadi Rural Municipality, Dhankuta.

According to the centre, it has been facing problem in buying newspapers and other necessary reading materials after centre stopped providing budget. The District Education Office had been providing one lakh rupees for operating the learning centre till last year. But now, there has been confusion over whether the district education coordination committee or local level should finance the centre.

District Education Coordination Committee Chief Ram Bahadur Thapa said the local level should allocate the budget as per the policy. The rural municipality, however, says it has yet to decide under which category it could allocate the budget.
